The Telsie S is a three-band equalizer plug-in inspired by the legendary Siemens W295b — a discrete Class A design from the 1970s, long valued for its open, airy high frequencies and rich, authoritative low end.
Originally developed for the ARD (Association of German Public Broadcasters), Siemens mixing systems represented the pinnacle of German broadcast engineering at the time. These consoles succeeded the iconic V72 and V76 tube designs and introduced a new level of precision and reliability. Modules such as the V276 microphone preamp and the W295 series equalizers quickly became highly sought-after tools in professional studios.
Among the three versions — W295, W295a, and W295b — the W295b stands out as the most advanced design. While all models feature low and high shelf filters, the W295b uniquely adds a mid-band presence/absence filter, allowing for more refined tonal shaping. Its distinctive character, especially the smooth and “airy” top end, continues to make it a trusted choice among experienced engineers.
The Telsie S faithfully captures this sonic signature while extending its capabilities for modern production.
